RF Fractional Skin Resurfacing + Scar Revision

Laser Fractional Resurfacing is a popular treatment that uses radiofrequency wavelengths to deliver a wide range of benefits to the skin. Use it for acne scarring, fine lines, stretchmarks, and more.

WHAT IS RF FRACTIONAL SKIN RESURFACING TREATMENT?

RF Fractional Resurfacing is a safe and effective resurfacing treatment that improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, tone, scarring, and stretchmarks. It’s a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses radio-frequency technology that heats the dermal tissue and create tiny micro wounds in the dermis while leaving the outer layer of the epidermis intact. This stimulates the skin’s natural healing response which results in increased collagen production and smoother, brighter skin with less imperfections. At Dr Lanzer, our highly trained dermatologists proudly use Alma-Lasers Accent Prime.

HOW DOES RF SKIN RESURFACING WORK?

This skin rejuvenation treatment causes micro perforations in the skin similar to micro needling which causes trauma in the dermis. When the dermis experiences trauma, the skin goes into repair mode due to the skin’s natural healing response. This in turn stimulates new collagen, elastin, and skin cells which help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, stretchmarks, blemishes, pigmentation, and more.

RF Skin Resurfacing has a short recovery time as it is non-invasive and is safe and gentle enough to be used on all skin types.

DOES RF SKIN RESURFACING WORK?

RF technology devices that use radio frequency instead of laser, has a greater overall effect on the skin as the energy is concentrated into a deeper layer of skin for collagen stimulation. RF treatments can target early fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne scars, and treat them effectively before they worsen. Many people have seen amazing results using our RF Fractional Resurfacing treatment and end up with improved skin tone, texture, and scarring over a series of planned sessions.

IS RF FRACTIONAL RESURFACING GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN?

With a fast healing process and minimal side effects, RF is considered to be a very safe and non-invasive procedure for rejuvenating the appearance of your skin. RF resurfacing only treat a fraction of the treatment area with narrow columns of heat while leaving skin in between the pinpoint injuries. This means that the unaffected skin can help to repair the damaged skin more quickly for minimal downtime. The best thing is that while only a fraction of the treatment area has been targeted, your skin can benefit from a smoother and more even overall appearance.

Benefits of Fractional Skin Resurfacing + Scar Revision

IS RF FRACTIONAL RESURFACING TREATMENT GOOD FOR ACNE SCARS?

RF fractional resurfacing is an excellent solution for different types of acne scarring, including rolling, atrophic, and boxcar scars. Usually, multiple treatments will be required to see a dramatic improvement in the appearance and texture of your skin. As acne scarring patterns are unique to each individual, your Dr Lanzer clinician will be able to tailor your treatment program to suit your specific skin type and provide a solution that works for you. The Accent Prime targets scarred collagen beneath the skin’s surface with radio waves and has a shorter recovery time than regular laser treatments. This is also the preferred method for removing acne scars on clients with a darker skin pigment.

PREPARING FOR YOUR PROCEDURE

You can enhance the results of your fractional resurfacing treatment by preparing your skin in the lead-up to the procedure. Keep your skin healthy and hydrated by using a professional range of skincare products, such as our exclusive D’Lumiere Esthetique. It is recommended that you incorporate a vitamin C serum into your routine for at least 2 weeks prior to the treatment to ensure an even skin tone is achieved.

It’s also important that you avoid too much sun exposure, as well as tanning beds, and use a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher for 4 weeks prior to the session. Avoid chemical peels and other deep facial treatments. If you have a history of herpes in the treated area, such as cold sores, let your dermatologist know for further advice on how to use antiviral medication during treatments.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR TREATMENT

RF fractional resurfacing is a generally fast procedure with minimal discomfort. The practitioner will run the Accent Prime over the treatment area to repair the damaged skin and stimulate the production of new collagen and cell growth. After the procedure has finished, a healing cream may be applied to soothe the redness and assist in the healing process. There is some minimal downtime, including erythema, sensitivity and some slight crusting post treatment.  Your therapist will go over all aftercare during your consultation.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL YOU NEED?

The number of skin resurfacing treatments will vary depending on your concern and skin type. At Dr Lanzer, we offer a Free Consultation where we go over your concern and map out a clear and detailed treatment plan. It’s important when you have a skin concern that you ensure commitment to your recommended series of treatments in order to achieve an improvement in the skin and see the desired results.

How long does RF Skin Resurfacing Last?

You will likely see improvement in the treated skin area over the next 7-10 days, with the new skin continuing to repair itself over the course of 4-6 weeks. However, this depends on what skin concern you are treating and may require several sessions to get your skin to its desired appearance.

Does it hurt + are there any side effects?

You will experience some mild discomfort during this treatment. Post treatment, your skin will feel very hot, like a sunburn, and will be flushed in appearance which can last for several hours. Depending on the intensity of the treatment you may experience redness and crusting of the treated area for the following 3-7 days.

Our therapists will go over all correct aftercare to ensure you are looking after the treated skin correctly post treatment.

What skin types and concerns are suitable for Fractional Skin Resurfacing?

As we use radio frequency and not laser, we can treat all skin types and skin tones.  During your consultation, our therapist will advise if this treatment is the safest and most effective solution for you.
